The IMF research, citing official data, found that the

revenue collected by the US government through hefty tariffs on Chinese imports, has been paid almost entirely by US importers.

“Some of these tariffs have been passed on to US consumers, such as those on washing machines, wh

ile others have been absorbed by importing firms through lower profit margins,” the research said.

Any further increase in tariffs will likely be passed through to consumers, it said.

China and the US, the world’s two largest economies, have been embroi

led in a tit-for-tat trade confrontation over the past few months. Washington threatened to fur

ther escalate a tariff war and increased tensions by tightening restrictions on Chinese companies.

Earlier this month, the US raised tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports from 10 percent to 25 percent, and China took coun

termeasures. Then the US administration listed about $300 billion more of Chinese goods for possible tariff hikes.

Meditation is the easiest way for people to reduce pr

essure, and psychological experts say that thinking of nothing is a mental

adjustment for people, which is

good for health as it can reduce the risk

of anxiety and depression by 25 percent, according to Workers’ Daily.

If people can’t manage their emotions effectively under high pressure, it will

harm their family life, work and social life, experts say.

The suggestion sparked reaction from netizens, with Sina Weibo user

Happy little witch123 asking, “Is it ok if I

accumulate the daily five minutes and me

ditate a hour on one day?” A WeChat user named yuenyuen said, “I’m not

bragging but I can meditate for a whole day.”

Just 20 days after the opening of a

Wang stressed if one side is trying to place extreme press

extreme pressure on the other, it will cause a legitimate counterattack.

“The measures from us are not only to safeguard China’s own rights, b

ut to protect the basic rules of the current multilateral trading mechanism,” Wang said.

Wang made the remark in a joint news conference with his Russian

counterpart Sergei Lavrov during his visit to the Black Sea coastal city of Sochi.

Experts warned that the rising US tariffs on Chinese imports risks a full-blown trade war, which will bring harm to both sides.

Major Wall Street stock indexes declined more than 2 percent on Monday, followi

He said that from a long-term perspective, populat

n BRI-related economies will ultimately prove the potential for economic development in those countries.

Ma Yu, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperatio

n, said the BRI provides a new impetus for the recovery of the world economy. The improvement in infra

structure, and digital-related manufacturing brought by the BRI will restore the development capacity of the worl

Also on Monday, the Office of the Leading Group for Promoting the Belt and Road Initiative

released an official report on the development, achievements and prospects of the BRI.

According to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of E

conomy and Informatization, the trade-in program targets the 603,000

vehicles complying with State-III emissions standards or below in this city.

Shanghai also encourages owners of public service vehicles — such as buses, sanitation vehi

cles, postal cars, taxis and light logistics vehicles — to replace their current vehicles with electric ones.

The city will improve auto financing, leasing and used car trading, as well as the construction of charging poles and hydrogen

refueling stations, to promote the use of new energy vehicles, the commission added.

The Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation G

roup (SAIC), China’s largest automobile manufacturer, has set up a 3 billion yuan fu

nd to support the trade-in program, with trade-in models limited to its Roewe, MG and Maxus brands.

A gasoline vehicle trade-in would enjoy a subsidy of 10,000 yuan per vehicle, while a new en

ergy vehicle trade-in would receive a subsidy of 15,000 yuan, the manufacturer said.

In fact, the group had lowered prices of its Roewe- and MG-branded

vehicles last month, in response to China’s VAT reduction policy that started April 1.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that

after the pilots turned off the MCAS, they were unable to regain control of the plane. They then re-engaged the anti-stall syste

m, the Journal said. It was not clear why the pilots did not continue following Boeing’s emergency checklist. Aviation exper

ts who asked not to be named told China Daily that using nonstandard procedures may have made things worse.

The preliminary finding by Ethiopian authorities likely will increase pressure on Boeing to deve

lop and install new software for the MCAS. It also is expected to result in a rigorous review of the softw

are fix by the US Federal Aviation Administration, which has been criticized by aviation analysts and mem

ers of Congress for depending too heavily on aircraft industry officials to certify their new planes as safe.

The FAA said late on Wednesday that it will launch a joint task force with NASA and internati

onal aviation regulators to review Boeing’s new software for the anti-stall system. The task force will be headed

by Chris Hart, former chairman of the US National Transportation Safety Board. The FAA has not released the nam

es of those to serve on the Joint Authorities Technical Review team, their affiliations or nationalities.

Initially, it was not easy for the Jiangsu teachers

udents’ trust. Upon arrival, they were not only faced with the high altitude and thin

ner atmosphere, but also naughty students with a low level of basic knowledge.

Wang Qiming, a history teacher from Huai’an city, Jiangsu, said he experienced some friction when he taught his first class in 2015.

“The students knew less than those in Jiangsu. They didn’t behave well in class or listen to me, so if the situation had not been

handled carefully-if I had become impatient or irritated-the tension could have been harmful,” he said.

Wang decided to proceed slowly and adjust his schedule to match t

he students’ poor skills. He quickly realized that even the seniors sometimes acted like young chi

ldren and needed coaxing and incentives, which many local teachers overlooked.

“Many local teachers have problems. For example, when they teach a class, they may think th

at they have taught a lot at a slow pace with enough detail, and they get annoyed if students don’t remember. In

fact, you should give the children time to digest, sparing five minutes in each class to help them review the work,” he said.
